Hey, I’m Hood. I’m 22 and the founder of Southern Spore.

I got into growing mushrooms back in 2022 and haven’t looked back since. No formal training in mycology (I actually dropped out of college), and I’ll be the first to admit, I’m still figuring out how to run a business. But what I do know is that I absolutely love what I do.

It’s been a wild ride since I started, and I’m learning more every day. I put everything I have into creating high-quality content and even better products. My mission with Southern Spore is simple: to open people’s eyes to the incredible world of fungi and to get as many folks as possible into growing and researching mushrooms for themselves.

I might not be the one who revolutionizes fungal science, but I just might be the guy who got you interested in mushrooms.
